A good service-business website does one job: it makes the decision to call you feel safe. Homeowners in Mississauga usually compare a few companies on a phone, often while something is leaking, tripping or failing, and they phone the one that looks clear and credible. We design for that situation rather than for a design award.
What this service is and who it suits
This is a full website project: strategy, structure, writing, design and build. It suits trades and service firms with no real website, a site built on a free page builder, or a template that no longer describes the business.
It is a strong fit if:
- most of your work arrives by phone or text
- you serve homeowners, property managers or small businesses within Mississauga and nearby
- you have at least a few services you want to be known for
- you can supply real photos and answer questions about how you work
It is a weak fit if you need an online store, a booking engine or a customer portal. Those are different projects, and we will tell you so.
What's included
Planning
- A one-hour interview about your jobs, margins, territory and the work you want more of
- A page map, usually six to twelve pages for a single-trade company
- A short message guide: what you do, who for, where, and why you rather than the next company
Writing
- Homepage, services, about, areas and contact copy written by us
- Answers to the questions your office hears every week, built into the pages
- Clear calls to action: call, text or email, never a maze of options
Design and build
- Mobile-first layouts, with the phone number visible on every screen
- Typography and colour taken from your brand, or a light refresh if it needs one
- Image compression and lazy loading so pages stay quick on a mid-range phone
- Accessibility basics: contrast, headings, alt text and keyboard navigation
- Search basics: page titles, descriptions, structured data and a sitemap
Timeline
| Week | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1 | Interview, page map and message guide |
| 2–3 | Copy drafted and reviewed with you |
| 3–5 | Design of the homepage and one inner page, then the rest |
| 5–7 | Build, testing on real phones, fixes |
| 7–8 | Launch, redirects if replacing an old site, handover |
The schedule slips most often while waiting for photos and approvals. If you can turn reviews around in two working days, a focused site rarely needs more than eight weeks.
How results are measured
A website's results are measured in calls, texts and emails, not compliments. Before launch we set up a way to count each of them and agree a baseline from your current site or phone records.
After launch we look at:
- Contact actions per 100 visits. The core number. If it rises and traffic holds, the site is doing its job.
- Where contacts start. Which pages lead to a call tells us which services and areas deserve more attention.
- Phone-to-job rate. Ask your office to note whether each new caller mentioned the website. It is rough, but it keeps everyone honest.
- Speed and errors. Monthly checks catch the slow plug-in or broken link before customers do.
Nobody can promise a set number of leads from a website, and we won't. What we commit to is a site built on a written scope, measured from day one.
Mistakes to avoid
- Leading with the company story. Owners love the history; homeowners want to know if you can come Thursday. Put the story on the about page.
- One page listing every service. It answers nothing well. Each core service deserves its own page, as explained in our service and neighbourhood pages service.
- Stock photos of smiling models. People spot them and trust you less.
- Hiding the phone number in a menu. Keep it visible on every screen.
- Letting a developer own the domain. Register it in your company's name, every time.
- Launching and forgetting. A site with last year's prices or an old van photo erodes trust; see website care.
Getting started
Send us your current site address, if you have one, and the three jobs you most want more of. We review it before the free consultation and come prepared with specific suggestions. The pricing page explains how monthly plans can include the website build, and contact explains what to put in your first message. We are a design and marketing service, not a contractor, so the work we deliver is your website, never work on a home.
Frequently asked questions
Do you use templates?
We work from a proven page structure, because homeowners expect to find certain things in certain places. The design, wording, photos and proof are made for your company, so the site does not look like a copy of anyone else's.
Who writes the words?
We do. We interview you and, where possible, a lead technician or dispatcher, then write in plain language. You approve every page before it goes live.
Do I need professional photos?
Real photos of your crew, vans and finished jobs beat stock images every time. Good phone photos taken in daylight are usually enough, and we send a shot list so you know what to capture.
Which platform do you build on?
We choose the platform with you based on who will edit the site and how often. Whatever we use, you own the domain, the hosting account and the files.
